A Building’s History

Old homes, hotels and commercial buildings have incredible histories that offer insight into the importance they had in the neighbourhood and community. Discovering this history re-connects the building or establishment with the community and offer a point of differentiation. Previous owners and uses

Historical Gardens

Discover the unique styles of gardens from the era of your home or building. Find out the species of plants, fashionable furniture and decorations, ponds, fountains and aquatic life, tiles, walls and pavers. The perfect document to assist and inspire your landscape gardener or architect.

Native Landscape Recreation

Our ecologists and archaeologists will reveal the lost indigenous flora and fauna that existed on your block before 1788 so you can create a unique indigenous garden experience. The report will also advise how to attract native birds and animals to your garden. Options for native water features and aquatic life.

Historical Interiors

Discover what was in vogue in the era your home, hotel or commercial building was built. Our historians will uncover examples of interior fashion for any room. Furnishings, wallpapers, colour pallets, carpets, tiles, timbers, textiles and more. Frequently Asked Questions

A typical assessment takes approximately three (3) weeks to search through the archives, obtain the information, compile what is relevant and then write it in a way that is easy to read and provides the most impact. Some projects that may require site visits and/or visits to remote archives may take a bit longer.

Yes. Once the report is complete you may choose the additional option to have the report turned into a book. Soft and Hard Cover options are available. These are great talking points, gifts, or ways to differentiate your house from the rest when on the real estate market.

We find that most older homes and buildings have a story to share. However, our reports not only cover the history of the building but also the land on which it sits. We reveal the history of the land pre-1788 including of the local first nations people and how the landscape once looked (plants, animals, etc). We reveal the early colonial period and tell you who was granted the land, how they used it, how it was subdivided. We will also provide you with a history of your street and the neighbourhood. This will include brief biographies of prominent past residents and events. Every report is a fascinating read.

Yes, we offer a unique service that uncovers if anyone has died in a house. It is presented as a single-page document and certificate. Typically it takes a week to complete. The service costs $249 per house.
